5004 REVIEW GRANTED. In a suit against an employer for failing to pay overtime compensation and commissions, and for failing to provide meal periods and itemized wage statements, the plaintiff's claims were not waived by a private agreement with the employer because the Labor Code provisions applicable to the plaintiffs' case serve important public interests. Because their claims were brought to vindicate important, unwaivable statutory rights, an agreement with the employer shortening the statute of limitations applicable to the plaintiffs' claims was unenforceable.
